Mid-Michigan Update Winter 2021

We are extremely proud and excited to announce our 2021 Carolyn Stell Memorial Award and Scholarship winners.

The Carolyn Stell Memorial Award for distinguished service to her community goes to the Honorable Judge Louise Alderson, Chief Judge of the 54A District Court, Ingham County. Judge Alderson has served on this bench for 20 years, many of which she has served as the Chief Judge.

The Stell Memorial Scholarship (presented in collaboration with Themis Bar Review) is awarded to Michigan State University College of Law 3L student Echo Aloe. Ms. Aloe carries an impressive 3.8 GPA and has been on the Dean’s List every semester of her law school career.

In lieu of a dinner/reception, due to the ongoing health concerns regarding COVID 19, WLAM MidMich will be putting together a virtual celebration and sending out to all members via email. Please look for this in the coming weeks to learn more about our incredible award winners and the legacy left by the late Judge Carolyn Stell.

Thank you to all who applied for the scholarship or nominated someone for these awards. We had a talented, inspiring pool of candidates for both categories. We also want to recognize the partnership of Themis Bar Review, who provides a completely free bar prep course to our scholarship winner each year. All of our previous scholarship winners have gone on to pass the MI Bar Exam on their first attempt, thanks in part to the comprehensive preparation provided by Themis.
