WLAM Announces 2021 Award Recipients

The Women Lawyers Association of Michigan (WLAM) is proud to announce its 2021 award recipients.

  • The Jean L. King Leadership Award, named in honor of the fearless Attorney Jean Ledwith King, an attorney, teacher, and women’s right activist is being presented to WLAM Past President Paula Talarico of Talarico Law.
  • The Mary S. Coleman Award, presented in honor of the Honorable Justice Coleman, the first woman to serve on the Michigan Supreme Court, is being presented to the Honorable Michelle Rick of the Michigan Court of Appeals.
  • The Geraldine Bledsoe Ford Award, given in honor of the Honorable Judge Ford, the first female African American judge elected in the United States without the benefit of having been appointed first and a remarkable Michigan woman lawyer, is being presented to Michelle Crockett of Miller Canfield Paddock and Stone PLC.
  • The Regional Leadership Award, presented in recognition and celebration of professionalism, excellence, and dedication to furthering the objectives of WLAM will be presented to Kristina Bilowus of the Career Development Department of MSU College of Law; Kailen Piper of O’Neill, Wallace and Doyle, PC; and  Katie Tucker of Sinas Dramis Law Firm.

WLAM will honor these individuals at our virtual 103rd Annual Meeting taking place June 4-5, 2021

The theme of this year’s Annual Meeting is GRIT, recognizing the importance of grit and a growth mindset in the success of women lawyers.
