WLAM Foundation Awards “Outstanding Women Law Student” Scholarships to Future Lawyers

Bar foundation names 11 exceptional female law students to receive $38,500 in total scholarship awards, funded by law firm and corporate partners

LANSING, MI – The Women Lawyers Association of Michigan Foundation’s primary mission is to support the education of future lawyers who demonstrate a commitment to advancing women’s position in society. 2021 marks the 25th year of Outstanding Women Law Student Scholarships, and the Foundation is pleased to announce this year’s honorees. Each recipient has achieved academic excellence at a Michigan law school and leads efforts to expand women’s roles in important areas of the law, including STEM, social justice, equality, child advocacy, and domestic violence.

Since 1997, the WLAM Foundation has awarded over $688,000 to more than 270 female law students. The recipients and sponsors for each of the $3,500 scholarships for 2021 are:

  • Laura Atanasovski, University of Detroit Mercy School of Law – General Motors Scholarship, sponsored by General Motors Corporation
  • Imani Ivery, University of Michigan Law School – General Motors Scholarship, sponsored by General Motors Corporation
  • Kathryn Kucyk, Western Michigan University Cooley School of Law – Miller Canfield Scholar, sponsored by Miller Canfield
  • Joy Mohammed, University of Detroit Mercy School of Law – John Dalton and Marcy Lou Peacock Scholarship, sponsored by Peacock Law Firm
  • Hanna Rutkowski, University of Michigan Law School – Kim Cahill Scholar, sponsored by the Women Lawyers of Michigan Foundation
  • Daniela Sanchez, University of Michigan Law School – Florence King Patent Law Scholarship, sponsored by Women Patent Lawyers
  • Aleanna Siacon, Wayne State University Law School – Dawn Van Hoek Scholar, sponsored by Women Lawyers of Michigan Foundation
