Many of us are continuing to adjust to revised work schedules and locations and also explore new opportunities in this changing world. Sometimes we are in need of a resume for these purposes, whether we are looking to serve as faculty in a course, take on some committee work, or apply for a new job. If you are like me, during this pandemic you may have also realized that the most recent version of your resume is on a flash drive in a desk drawer in an office you have not been to in months. No problem! You can quickly turn your LinkedIn profile into a resume with just a few steps.[1]
Log into LinkedIn, click on the “me” icon in the top right corner and view your profile page. Under your contact information, click on the option that says “more” and select “build a resume” and choose the option to “create from profile.” LinkedIn will do most of the work for you, allowing you to edit all of the components including your summary, education, experiences, and more. When you are finished editing you can preview or download as a .pdf. One great feature includes a link to your profile at the top of the resume, allowing people to see further details and activity on your page.
This is a huge timesaver if you are in a pinch and a great way to incorporate an active social media profile into a dynamic resume that will allow people to learn more about you and your qualifications, skills and interests.
