Meeting the Challenge is a unique forum for law firms, corporations, government, nonprofits, and other stakeholders to share best practices, learn from thought-leaders, and forge meaningful and lasting connections necessary to meet NAWL’s One-Third By 2020 Challenge. Issued in March 2016, the 2020 Challenge urges the legal profession to increase the representation of women, particularly diverse women, in every branch of the legal profession.

Programming will focus on what institutions can do to increase the number of women in leadership roles, as well as sessions focused on overcoming unconscious bias and strategies for individuals to advance and flourish in their existing environments. NAWL will also unveil its 2017 Survey on the Promotion and Retention of Women in Law Firms administered by Professor Destiny Peery, Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law.

Registration is open to NAWL members and non-members. Scholarships are available for attorneys who wish to attend, but may not be able to do so due to cost considerations.

The Taste of Diversity 2017 @ The Bird and The Bread
Oct 19 @ 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm

As an association dedicated to enriching the diversity in our legal community, we invite you to join us at the 2017 Diversity Dinner (“The Taste of Diversity”).  The Taste of Diversity dinner is a biannual event created to promote diversity in the legal profession. This very important event will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2017, at The Bird and The Bread located in Birmingham.  The event will run from 5:30-7:30 p.m., including a short awards presentation. A highlight of The Taste of Diversity is the presentation of the Leon Hubbard Community Service Award and the Michael K. Lee Memorial Award Recognizing Diversity.

The mission of the Oakland County Bar Association’s Diversity in the Legal Profession committee is to increase awareness in the Oakland county legal community of the need to provide equal opportunity for all lawyers and support personnel through education and programs sponsored by the OCBA and in collaboration with other legal organizations.  With your support we are hoping to make this event one of the most successful and meaningful yet.
